If you’ve been active on beauty-related social media platforms lately, you’ve likely come across bloggers and beauty experts showcasing their seemingly poreless skin and endorsing the latest serums that promise a glass-like complexion. However, it’s important to recognize that the current fascination with this flawless skin trend isn’t entirely new. The concept of achieving “glass skin,” or something akin to it, has a longstanding history, largely influenced by the world of Korean beauty and Korean dramas. However, I believe that if you want to keep up with the trend and actually achieve healthy glowy skin, you need a proper skincare routine and a healthy lifestyle which we will go through in this blog.

What is Glass Skin?

Glass skin is all about achieving a clear, luminous complexion that’s smooth and virtually poreless. It’s glowy, hydrated, and a shiny skin locking in moisture and radiance. More specifically, “glass” refers to healthy skin with proper care. To be honest, this isn’t something that can be achieved overnight or within a week. It takes at least 3 -4 weeks with a consistent routine to show the results. In addition, Everyone’s lifestyle and body are different, so the steps might act differently for each and every one. But If you’re ready to embark on a journey to achieve that enviable glass-skin look, you’re in the right place. In this guide, we’ll break it down into 5-6 simple steps to help you attain that radiant complexion you’ve always wanted.

Step 1: Double Cleansing

The first step before starting any routine is double cleansing. It requires a complete extraction of oil and dirt. Start with an oil-based cleanser (depending on the needs of your skin type which can either be oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, or combination skin) to remove makeup followed by a gentle foaming or water-based cleanser to remove impurities. Double cleansing ensures your skin is free from any debris, allowing your subsequent products to penetrate effectively. You can use the CeraVe Cleanser to start with as it has all the required properties to deep cleanse your skin and pores.

Step 2: Exfoliation

Exfoliating regularly is key to achieving smooth, glass-like skin. Use a mild chemical exfoliator like glycolic acid or a physical exfoliator with fine granules to remove dead skin cells. However, be gentle to avoid over-exfoliating, which can damage your skin barrier. You can use the Jeju Volcanic Lava Scrub to start with. On my personal recommendation, This is by far the best scrub I’ve used for Oily skin type.

Step 3: Toning

There are a variety of toners available today that help to clear your pores and clarify your complexion. Those days are gone when using toner was cringy as it felt too heavy on the skin and felt like a hard layer sitting on top of your skin. Water-based toner and gel toners are easily accessible these days which suffices the need to keep your skin hydrating all the long. I would recommend using the Plum toner which is really effective and hydrating.

Step 4: Masking

The glowy look that makes glass skin stand out from the crowd results from beautifully hydrated skin which results in form using a Sheet mask or a Clay mask depending upon the type of skin. Clay masks are usually used for Oily skin type and Sheet mask can be used for Dry, Sensitive, and combination skin type. These masks typically enhance the skin by removing excess oil and dirt. It also rejuvenates the skin by injecting the serums present in the sheet maks which gives that shiny texture. I recommend using the Dot & Key clay mask which is really refreshing and soothing.

Step 5: Moisturizing

Moisturizing is a pivotal step in your skincare routine, regardless of your skin type. After cleansing, exfoliating, and applying serums, a good moisturizer helps lock in all the goodness and seals in hydration. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type; if you have dry skin, opt for a richer cream, while those with oily skin should look for a lightweight, oil-free formula. Moisturizers work to maintain your skin’s natural moisture balance, keeping it supple, soft, and ready to face the day (or night) ahead.”

Step 6: SPF (Most important)

Protecting your skin from UV rays is essential to prevent premature aging and maintain that glassy complexion. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily, even on cloudy days. When you’re implementing these skincare products in your daytime routine, always make sunscreen your ultimate and non-negotiable step. Sunscreen stands as the paramount element in your skincare regimen, safeguarding your skin from harmful UV rays and preventing premature aging and damage.

Other vital steps when achieving the Glass skin are to make sure you are maintaining a healthy diet, proper sleep routine, less stress, and being patient enough to see the results.
